Natural stone reads correctly against older Main Line architecture in a way manufactured block often does not. It costs more. On these properties it is generally the right call.

Structure comes first. Trees and evergreens set the frame and carry the garden through winter, which matters more than people admit in a climate with five leafless months.
Then layers. Flowering shrubs, ornamental grasses and perennials arranged so something is doing interesting work in every season rather than everything peaking in one glorious week in May.
Deer pressure is a genuine planning constraint across Villanova, Radnor, Wayne and Gladwyne. We design with it rather than around it, using resistant material where exposure is high and reserving vulnerable plantings for protected areas near the house.
